The iPhone 8 is not compatible with eSIM technology. Only models from the iPhone XS and newer support it. In this guide, you’ll learn how to check whether your iPhone supports eSIM and what to do if you already purchased a HOLASIM eSIM.
How to check if your iPhone 8 supports eSIM
You can confirm whether your iPhone supports eSIM through the settings or by dialing the *#06# code.
Check through settings
Go to Settings > Cellular or Mobile Data.
If the option Add eSIM does not appear, your iPhone is not compatible.
Check using the *#06# code
Open the Phone app > Dial pad > Enter *#06#.
If you don’t see an EID code on the screen, your iPhone does not support eSIM.
What to do if you bought an eSIM and your iPhone 8 isn’t compatible
If you’ve already purchased a HOLASIM eSIM, you still have options:
- Install it on another compatible and unlocked device.
- Save it for a future trip — HOLASIM eSIMs never expire.
- Gift it to someone with an eSIM-compatible phone so it can be used.
